The La Mirada Symphony Announces Concert Dates and Programming for the 2017-2018 Season

La Mirada, CA (July 30, 2017) – Under the direction of conductor Alan Mautner, the La Mirada Symphony has announced the concert dates and programming for the 2017-2018 season.

September 9, 2017: Classic Albums Live performs The Beatles: Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band 50th Anniversary with the La Mirada Symphony
This special concert will pay tribute to The Beatles and celebrate one of the most iconic albums in the history of rock and roll.

November 19, 2017: Old and New
The first concert of the season will feature music from Mozart, Fernandez and Beethoven.

Guest Performer: Francisco Castillo, Oboe
Mozart – Overture to “The Abduction from the Seraglio”
Fernandez – Concerto for Oboe and Strings
Beethoven – Symphony No. 3, in Eb Major

February 20, 2018: Youth Program Concert
Selected students from the Norwalk-La Mirada School District Honor Band/Orchestra will perform with the La Mirada Symphony (LMS) for a pair of performances, with more than 2,000 participating district students.

February 25, 2018: Romantic Riches
The second concert of the season will feature the works of Mendelssohn, Brahms and Dvorak.

Guest Performers: Sorah Myung, Violin and Greg Adamson, Cello
Mendelssohn – Hebrides Overture (Fingal’s Cave)
Brahms – Concerto for Violin and Cello
Dvorak – Symphony No. 6

April 8, 2018: Pops Concert – Sounds From The Screen
The third concert of the season will be an afternoon with music from the movies.

May 20, 2018: Musical Journey
The fourth and final concert of the season will feature the music of Shostakovich and Rimsky-Korsakov, as well as the Young Artist Concerto winners (TBA).
