Celebrate an inspiring season finale with one of the greatest masterpieces ever composed.

Beethoven’s monumental Symphony No. 9, featuring the unforgettable “Ode to Joy,” unites orchestra, chorus, and community in a stirring celebration of hope, unity, and the enduring power of music.

The afternoon also showcases the exceptional talent of two winners of the Whittier Branch Music Teachers’ Association (MTAC) Concerto Competition, making this a joyful celebration of both musical excellence and the next generation of artists.

The program opens with Mozart’s overture to The Magic Flute, before turning the stage over to our young soloists and, finally, to Beethoven’s “Choral” Symphony itself.

It’s a fitting close to the season: a full house of orchestra, chorus and community, all raising their voices together.

Two winners of the Whittier Branch Music Teachers’ Association (MTAC) Concerto Competition join the La Mirada Symphony, sharing the stage with a full orchestra ahead of Beethoven’s Ninth.

The winners will be announced closer to the concert date.

Arrive early for a special pre-concert lecture exploring Beethoven’s Ninth, the composers on the program, and the young soloists taking the stage. The lecture begins at 2:15 p.m., followed by the full concert at 3:00 p.m.

Yes. Admission is free, and no ticket purchase is required.
Do I need to reserve a seat?
No advance ticket or reservation is required. Seating is available on a first-arrival basis and remains subject to the theatre’s capacity. As the season finale, this concert tends to draw a larger crowd, so early arrival is recommended.
What time should I arrive?
The pre-concert lecture begins at 2:15 p.m. The orchestra concert begins at 3:00 p.m. Arrive early to allow time for parking and seating.
What should I wear?
Come as you are. There is no formal dress requirement. Wear whatever makes you comfortable.
May I bring children?
Families and young listeners are welcome. Please note that children under the age of three are not permitted in the theater. Parents and guardians should use their judgment regarding whether an older child will be comfortable during a full orchestral and choral performance.
