Composers Bernstein, Mozart, and Beethoven kick off the 2014-2015 season, under the direction of Alan Mautner, with an assortment of inspiring pieces. Beginning with the exuberant Divertimento for Orchestra by Leonard Bernstein, to the exquisite tones of Mozart’s Concerto for Clarinet, and ending with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 in F Major, “Pastoral”, Op. 68, the audience will enjoy a variety of masterful works.
Guest soloist Helen Goode-Castro will take center stage for the Concerto for Clarinet. She is a popular performer with symphonies throughout Southern California. Her performance background includes playing with several European orchestras including the BBC Philharmonic and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. She is currently on the faculty of the University of California at both Long Beach and Los Angeles.
