A Message From La Mirada Symphony Association President David Derks About the 2024 Season

Dear Friends of the La Mirada Symphony,

As we approach February, the excitement is palpable as we prepare to return to the stage at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts.

The La Mirada Symphony remains steadfast in its mission to provide exceptional classical concerts, completely free of charge, to the vibrant Southern California community. Your commitment fuels our ability to continue delivering these harmonious experiences to Southern California residents.

You might be surprised to discover that the true cost of each concert amounts to a staggering $17,000. Whether you are a continuing member or contemplating joining as a new one, your support plays a pivotal role in laying the foundation that enables us to nurture the La Mirada Symphony.

Matching Fund Drive

One of our generous La Mirada Symphony Association members has graciously pledged to match all donations, up to their $10,000 gift! This means that every contribution made by our dedicated supporters will be doubled. We can’t think of a more meaningful way to acknowledge your support. Your generosity is what keeps our symphony thriving.

We need your assistance to seize this incredible opportunity. Every contribution will make a difference during our “Matching Fund Drive.” We highly value your support and appreciate contributions of any size. You have the power to bring this vision to life.

You can send your tax-deductible donation via check, payable to the La Mirada Symphony Association, to our mailing address at: P.O. Box 117, La Mirada, CA 90637-0117. Tax-deductible donations can also be made through PayPal at lamiradasymphony@aol.com. If you have gifts for our opportunity drawings, please reach out to us at the same email address.

Every contribution, regardless of size, fuels our highly respected music programs. Supporting the La Mirada Symphony Association isn’t just an act of generosity; it’s an investment in the power of music to transform our world.

Get ready to circle these dates in your calendars for our exciting 2024 Season:

  • February 18: Experience “The Great Germans.” The program will include Carl Maria von Weber’s thrilling “Overture to Oberon,” followed by Johannes Brahms’ “Hungarian Dances.” Prepare for the US Premiere of Willi März’s “Divertimento for Tuba, Harp and Orchestra,” featuring David Holben on tuba and Ellie Choate on harp. We’ll conclude with Ludwig van Beethoven’s magnificent “Symphony No. 4 in Bb Major.”
  • May 19: Join us for “Music from the Cinema.” The pops are back in La Mirada, celebrating iconic music from Hollywood.

In a world that continues to evolve, our symphony offers everyone a few hours of respite with music from a bygone era, a chance to escape, and revel in the beauty of music.

We wholeheartedly thank you for your unwavering support, and we can’t wait to share the stage with you this season!

With heartfelt appreciation,

David Derks,
