An Inspiring Afternoon of Chamber Music: Join Us January 11 for Brahms, Piazzolla & More

The La Mirada Symphony welcomes the community to an intimate afternoon of chamber music on January 11, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts. This free concert brings together expressive works that highlight the beauty, passion, and emotional power of small ensembles. It is an excellent way to begin the new year with music, connection, and creativity.

A Rich and Expressive Program

The concert opens with Johannes Brahms’ Trio for Clarinet, Cello, and Piano. This piece is one of his most heartfelt works. It offers warm melodies, deep emotional writing, and a beautiful blend of clarinet and cello. In addition, Brahms’ piano lines add depth and support, enhancing the entire piece.

Next, the program moves to Astor Piazzolla’s The Four Seasons for Piano Trio. This bold reimagining of Vivaldi’s classic adds tango rhythms, colorful harmonies, and modern flair. As a result, audiences experience a thrilling fusion of familiar structure and contemporary energy.

The afternoon continues with Brahms’ Piano Quartet No. 1. This Romantic-era favorite is known for sweeping themes and dynamic contrasts. The final movement, often called “gypsy-inspired,” brings exciting momentum and dramatic flair to the stage.

The concert closes with a lively Fiddler on the Roof Medley arranged for saxophone, trumpet, cello, and piano. This arrangement brings fresh life to beloved Broadway melodies. It also offers a fun and joyful ending to the program.

A Musical Gift to the Community

“This program celebrates the emotional depth and joy of chamber music,” said Alan Mautner, Conductor and Artistic Director of the La Mirada Symphony. “From Brahms’ heartfelt lyricism to Piazzolla’s rhythmic fire, and the charm of Fiddler on the Roof, this concert offers something special for everyone.”

The La Mirada Symphony continues its long tradition of offering free concerts to the community. Therefore, this January performance reflects our commitment to keeping classical music accessible, inspiring, and open to all.
