Rose Hamilton and the La Mirada Symphony shared a remarkable story. It spanned more than four decades of music, leadership, and service. Today, we honor her life and her lasting impact on the Symphony she loved.
Before retiring from the La Mirada Symphony a decade ago, Rose served as First Violin, Finance Director, Secretary, and Board member. Because of her dedication, the La Mirada Symphony grew stronger. Her service helped the organization continue bringing free live orchestral music to the La Mirada community.

More than four decades of music.
For 43 years, Rose served as First Violin with the La Mirada Symphony. She shared her talent with thousands of audience members. In addition, she performed in a string quartet and sang in her church choir for many years.
Rose believed music should be shared. As a result, she gave her time and talent with care. Over time, her steady commitment helped create the performances that define the La Mirada Symphony today.
Her music helped shape the sound of the orchestra. Her dedication helped shape its spirit.
Leadership behind the scenes.
Rose also served beyond the concert stage. She was the Finance Director and Secretary of the La Mirada Symphony Association. In addition, she served 11 years as Treasurer on the Board of Directors.
After a 45-year career as a Certified Public Accountant, Rose gave her professional knowledge to the Symphony. Her work helped keep the organization on a strong financial path. Because of this, the Symphony could continue serving the community.
A life dedicated to community service.
Rose lived in La Mirada since 1959. She believed in giving back to the city she called home. In addition to her work with the La Mirada Symphony, she served as President of the Kiwanis Club of La Mirada.
She also served on the boards of Meals on Wheels, the BEST Foundation, and the Landmark Homeowners’ Association. Through each role, Rose showed generosity, discipline, and care for others.

The La Mirada Symphony is stronger because of Rose Hamilton. Her music helped shape the sound of the orchestra. Her leadership helped guide the organization. Above all, her service showed what one devoted person can mean to a community orchestra.
Today, her legacy continues through every concert, rehearsal, musician, volunteer, and audience member. Because of Rose, the La Mirada Symphony carries forward a history of music, service, and community pride.
