Old Worlds, New Worlds: Music of Eastern Europe

On March 22, 2026, the La Mirada Symphony presents Music of Eastern Europe: Old Worlds, New Worlds, a program that bridges tradition and innovation in one unforgettable afternoon. The concert begins with a pre-concert lecture at 2:15 p.m., followed by the performance at 3:00 p.m. Audiences will experience Béla Bartók’s Hungarian Pictures, Alexander Arutunian’s brilliant Trumpet Concerto, and Antonín Dvořák’s beloved Symphony No. 9, “From the New World.”

Featured Musician

Trumpeter David Pittel is one of Southern California’s most versatile and accomplished musicians, performing across classical, jazz, and commercial music settings. He appears frequently with orchestras, chamber ensembles, big bands, and musical theater productions, and performs regularly at the Disneyland Resort. David holds principal trumpet positions with the Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra, the Desert Symphony, the Long Beach Ballet Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Symphony. His upcoming recording, The Baroque Saxophone, is a collaboration with his father, celebrated saxophonist Harvey Pittel. David also teaches at Cal Poly Pomona, Riverside City College, Ventura College, and other institutions.
