Join the Board of La Mirada Symphony
Have a passion for music, community, and giving back? Joining the Board of the La Mirada Symphony is your chance to help shape our future, support arts access for all, and bring live classical music to our community.
Why Your Involvement Matters
- Ensure accessibility: Help keep our concerts free and open to everyone — families, seniors, students, and music-lovers alike.
- Support the arts & education: Play a key role in sustaining quality performances, fostering local musical talent, and promoting music education in La Mirada.
- Enhance community connection: Be part of an organization that enriches our city’s cultural life and strengthens community bonds.
- Bring your skills to life: Whether your strength is fundraising, marketing, bookkeeping, community outreach, or organizational leadership, we need a variety of backgrounds to thrive.
What We Look For in Board Members
We welcome people with diverse skills, experiences, and backgrounds. Some of the qualities and expertise we value include:
- Experience in nonprofit leadership, governance, or community service
- Background in arts, music, education, marketing, communications, finance, fundraising, or outreach
- A collaborative spirit and commitment to the Symphony’s mission
- Willingness to contribute time, energy, and — when possible — financial support or fundraising help
What Board Service Looks Like
As a board member, you may be asked to:
- Attend periodic board meetings (typically X–Y times/year)
- Serve on a committee (fundraising, outreach, program planning, etc.) depending on your interests and skills
- Help with community outreach, concert planning, sponsorships, or education/outreach programs
- Advise on organizational strategy, budgeting, and long-term planning
- Be an ambassador — represent the Symphony in the community and help build our supporter base
No previous board or arts-organization experience is required — what matters most is enthusiasm, a willingness to help, and a belief in our mission.
