Meet Trumpeter David Pittel at the January 11 Chamber Concert
Trumpeter David Pittel has built a strong reputation as one of Southern California’s most versatile musicians. He performs in classical, jazz, and commercial music settings and brings clarity and energy to every stage. Based in Los Angeles, he appears with many of the region’s top ensembles. Audiences will also hear him at the La Mirada Symphony’s January 11, 2026 Chamber Concert, where he will be a featured artist.
A Performer Who Thrives Across Many Musical Worlds
David’s career reflects the rich and varied music scene in Los Angeles. He performs with symphony orchestras, chamber groups, big bands, and musical theater companies. In addition, he records for film and television, which allows his sound to reach audiences far beyond the concert hall. He also performs regularly at the Disneyland Resort, where his playing supports some of the venue’s most beloved shows.
Principal Trumpet in Leading Southern California Ensembles
David holds several principal trumpet positions. He serves as principal trumpet for the Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra, The Desert Symphony, the Long Beach Ballet Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Symphony. These roles highlight his precision, leadership, and musical insight. He also presents solo recitals throughout the region, which gives audiences a closer look at his expressive style.
A New Recording with a Special Family Connection
David will appear on the upcoming album The Baroque Saxophone. This project is a collaboration with his father, renowned saxophonist Harvey Pittel. The recording showcases their shared musical understanding and offers listeners a rare pairing of trumpet and saxophone in Baroque works.
A Dedicated Educator Shaping the Next Generation
Outside of performing, David is deeply committed to education. He teaches trumpet at Cal Poly Pomona, Riverside City College, and Ventura College, as well as other institutions across Southern California. He brings real-world experience into the classroom and helps students build strong technique and artistic confidence.
David earned his Bachelor of Music from the University of Texas at Austin. He later completed his Master of Music at the University of California, Los Angeles. These programs helped shape his artistic style and continue to influence his work as both a performer and teacher.
