DAVID STENSKE was reared in Glendora, California, where he studied violin with Betty Shaw. Subsequently, he worked with Mehli Mehta and Ivan Galamian. He served as concertmaster with the American Youth Symphony, the Riverside County Philharmonic, and the Redlands Bowl Orchestra. He is now Concertmaster of the Glendale Symphony, the Santa Monica Symphony, the Brentwood-Westwood Symphony, and the Burbank Philharmonic.
David was principal violist with the South Bay Chamber Orchestra and violist in the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, and he currently performs often as principal violist with the New West Symphony. During his career as a frequent concert soloist and recitalist, he has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the L.A. Chamber Orchestra, and at the Ojai Music festival. He has been guest concertmaster with the Los Angeles Opera, the Oregon Bach Festival, the Los Angeles Bach Festival, and the Santa Barbara Symphony.
